Amid the fallout of Donald Sterling's racist comments, leaked by TMZ and, National Basketball Association Commissioner Adam Silver announced Tuesday that the Jewish owner of the Los Angeles Clippers is banned from the NBA for life and will be fined $2.5 million. The NBA will also try to force Sterling to sell the Clippers, Silver said.

Sterling—who told ex-girlfriend V. Stiviano "It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people"—also covered Jews and Israel in his widely condemned comments.

"You go to Israel, the blacks are just treated like dogs… there’s white Jews and black Jews, do you understand?" Sterling said.

Silver, who is also Jewish, on Tuesday confirmed that Sterling's voice is in fact the one heard on the leaked recordings.
