Money talks after all.
The Tricycle Theater in London, which had refused to host a Jewish film festival because the festival had received a donation from the Israeli government, had backtracked on the decision after several major Jewish funders withdrew their donations to the theater.
“We are as a community under pressure from the boycott movement,” said British-Jewish philanthropist Sir Trevor Chinn, who decided to withdraw funding of the theater. “We can’t accept boycotts and whenever one comes along we have to fight it.”
Although the theater revised its decision, the festival’s organizers already booked a different venue. The Tricycle Theater will return to host the festival in 2015.
