(JNS.org) The Israeli Air Force (IAF) has stepped up its operations to stop rocket fire from Gaza by targeting several rocket launching sites and killing Hamas terror chief Ahmed Jabari in an airstrike.
“The airstrike marked the beginning of Operation Pillar of Defense to target Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror organizations in Gaza,” said IDF spokesman Yoav Mordechai in the Jerusalem Post.
Jabari, the head of Hamas’s military wing, has been behind numerous terror attacks against Israel, including the abduction of Gilad Shalit and launching rockets, according to the Israeli military.
“Ahmed Jabari, who has been a moving force behind the Gaza rocket attacks, should have been killed long ago. We call on the security services and army to retaliate with targeted killings for each and every rocket launched into Israeli civilian areas,” said Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, director of Shurat HaDin-Israel Law Center.
