In the balance beam exercise, Raisman at first finished fourth place with a score of 14.966. After reviewing her routine, the judges chose to add an extra tenth of a point, giving her a score of 15.066, identical to that of Romanian Catalina Ponor. Raisman ultimately got the bronze medal because her execution score was higher.

Raisman's second gold medal was the first Olympic gold in the floor exercise for a U.S. woman.
