Rocket from Lebanon strikes northern Israel

( A Katyusha rocket fired from Lebanon exploded west of the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona on Sunday. Four other rockets were fired from Lebanon but did not land in Israel, and no injuries were reported.

Palestinian groups in southern Lebanon were likely responsible for the rockets, Lebanese media reported. In response, the IDF fired shells at the source of the rocket fire in Lebanon, according to Army Radio.

“The IDF responded powerfully and quickly to the fire from Lebanon today,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at his cabinet meeting Sunday. “This is our policy in Lebanon, like it is in Gaza. We won’t permit a trickle [of rockets] and, if needed, will act [to thwart rocket fire] beforehand.”
