( Howie (Chaim) Rothman, a 54-year-old Canadian citizen who was struck in the head with a meat cleaver in the Nov. 18 attack on a synagogue in Jerusalem’s Har Nof neighborhood, is in a medically induced coma and lost vision in one eye.

Rothman, who also suffered brain damage and is the most seriously wounded victim among those who survived, has 10 children. The UJA Federation of Greater Toronto is raising funds for his family.

“Although the final prognosis is not in… the ability of Howie Rothman to support his family is going to be incredibly compromised,” Steven Shulman, fundraising campaign director for the Toronto federation, told Canada's CTV network.
