( Palestinian man Hamam Mesalmeh, the driver responsible for hitting three Israel Defense Forces soldiers with a car in Gush Etzion on Wednesday, turned himself in to security forces on Thursday afternoon. Israeli defense officials now say the incident appeared to be an accident, not a terrorist attack.

The three IDF soldiers were moderately to seriously wounded in the incident while they were guarding the area on Route 60, close to the Al-Aroub refugee camp in Gush Etzion.

Mesalmeh had fled the scene, leading security forces to initially believe the incident was a terror attack that followed a car-ramming attack in Jerusalem earlier that day.
