(JNS.org) An explosion injured at least 21 people on a bus in Jerusalem on Monday afternoon.
The Number 12 Egged bus was driving on Moshe Baram Road in the city when a bomb exploded on board, causing another nearby bus and a vehicle to catch fire. Magen David Adom paramedics arrived on the scene and treated the wounded individuals before transporting them to the Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
Jerusalem’s Fire Department also dispatched teams to put out the erupted fires. While the source of the explosion was initially unclear, Yoram HaLevy, commander of the Jerusalem Police District, confirmed the explosion was caused by a bomb and later said, “There is no doubt that this is a terror attack.”
There were no immediate claiming of responsibility for the attack, but both the Hamas and Islamic Jihad terror groups praised the bombing.
“Hamas blesses the Jerusalem operation, and considers it a natural reaction to Israeli crimes, especially field executions and the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque,” the terror group said.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday night promised to "settle the score" with whoever carried out the attack.
