(JNS.org) Former Israeli president Shimon Peres congratulated the United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth on joining the nonagenarian club, recording a video message released on Thursday for the queen's 90th birthday.
"Your Majesty, from my own experience, I can tell you that in my judgment life begins at the age of 90, and they go up better and better," said Peres, who is 92.
"It is really a blessing, not just a wish, a blessing to you, to us, that you will continue to guide, to inspire, to offer a smile, to the young and the old and make our life look different, despite of all the problems and wars we went through. You are a great leader for the free world; you are a great hope for the coming generations. God bless you," he said.
Queen Elizabeth has been on the throne of Great Britain for 64 years and is the longest-reigning monarch in British history, surpassing her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, in September.
An Ipsos MORI poll released last week found that 70 percent of British citizens want Elizabeth to stay on the throne, while 21 percent want her to retire or abdicate.
