(JNS.org) Hamas has reportedly restored its operational capabilities to the levels they had reached prior to the Palestinian terror group's summer war with Israel in 2014, senior Israeli defense officials warned Tuesday.

The officials warned that Hamas had restored its tunnel and rocket capabilities to their levels from 2014, when Israel carried out Operation Protective Edge in Gaza, according to a report on Israel’s Channel 2.

A large part of Hamas’s missile stockpile comes from self-made weapons inside Gaza, and the material used to make the weapons entered the Hamas-ruled territory through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt.

Separately, during a tour of Israeli communities near the border with Gaza, Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman warned about the Hamas threat.

“Hamas and the rest of the groups in Gaza have not abandoned their desire to destroy Israel and to harm us,” Lieberman said Tuesday.
