Gal Gadot’s ‘Wonder Woman’ now highest-earning superhero movie in US history

(JNS.org) As of last week, Israeli actress Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman” had earned about $404 million in North America, surpassing “Spider-Man” as the highest-grossing superhero movie in U.S. history.

Gadot, who served in the IDF, has drawn ire from anti-Israel activists worldwide for her vocal support of Israel. Despite BDS campaigns to boycott “Wonder Woman” in Lebanon, Jordan, Tunisia and Algeria due to the “Zionist” actress’s leading role, Gadot’s Marvel comic superhero movie soared to success, earning approximately $103 million in North America during its first weekend in early June and receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews.

The movie is also the first female-directed action film to exceed $400 million in U.S. earnings, and has grossed some $800 million worldwide.

In late June, Gadot was ranked number one on the Top Actors list of The Hollywood Reporter.
