Israel is to commence building a 150-kilometer (93-mile) undersea electricity cable that will run along the Mediterranean coast from Ashkelon in the south to Haifa in the north.
The cable will transmit electricity produced by solar energy fields in Israel’s southern cities across the country. Connecting Israel’s electricity network to power grids in Europe via Cyprus and Greece will follow.
