The writer Amal Mudallali, a former Lebanese ambassador to the United Nations, wrote on Tuesday that she is “imprisoned” due to the security around Washington’s Watergate Hotel for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit.
“This is the entrance to my building at the Watergate. We are fenced in with these high black metal walls because Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is staying at the Watergate Hotel,” Mudallali wrote. “Our lives will be upended and we will be imprisoned behind these metal walls till he leaves. I cannot wait for that.”
“It is unbelievable,” she added. “I have never seen something like this before. They installed all these walls at night keeping us awake all night long by the terrible noise. It was horrible!”
