Israeli forces found a bag containing ammunition during an inspection of an international aid convoy traveling through the Gaza Strip, the IDF said on Monday.
According to the military, “unusual movement” was identified during IDF monitoring of the convoy.
The ammunition was discovered after the trucks were stopped for a security check at a checkpoint along the humanitarian route between northern and southern Gaza.
IDF troops detained those involved, including members of the convoy, and handed them over to security forces for further investigation. The relevant organization was also questioned.
The military clarified that this was an internal convoy moving within the Gaza Strip, from north to south, rather than passing through the crossings designated for humanitarian aid entry into Gaza.
A Channel 12 report in September revealed that the Hamas terror group has gleaned at least half a billion dollars from humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip, by stealing it and selling it to the population.
The outgoing Biden administration is pressuring Jerusalem to meet its demands for increasing humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip despite concerns that Hamas is exploiting the shipments.
