A Palestinian man was stopped on Monday after he attempted a stabbing attack against Israeli soldiers in Judea and Samaria, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The assailant was shot at in Shomron Square outside the northern city of Nablus near a military base, the IDF confirmed.

No Israeli casualties were reported. The suspect sustained serious injuries, according to Israeli media.

An initial investigation suggested that the attacker came on the scene in a vehicle likely traveling from Nablus.

After a brief security check, the soldiers instructed him to turn around. The attacker then left the car with a knife and attacked the soldier.

“It is the second attempted terror attack in the same place within a month, and again civilians and soldiers are saved by no less than a miracle,” head of the Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan, said in a statement reported by The Times of Israel.

As part of a string of attacks last month against Israelis, two IDF soldiers were murdered and two civilians severely injured after being shot by a terrorist at the Givat Asaf Junction, between Beit El and Ofra near the northern entrance to Ramallah.
