Israeli forces on Thursday thwarted a terrorist attack in Kiryat Arba on the outskirts of Hebron in Judea, near the home of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

Israel Defense Forces soldiers on routine patrol identified a suspicious individual at the entrance to the city’s Giv’at HaAvot neighborhood, according to the IDF. A search revealed that he was armed with a knife. Under interrogation, the suspect confessed his intention to carry out an attack.

The office of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said in a statement that the terrorist was “meters” from the minister’s home, and that the minister’s security detail had instructed him not to leave the house, Israeli media reported.
