The organization supporting one of the Jewish state’s most important artistic ambassadors just announced new leadership.

“Together, we will continue to foster cultural exchange, nurture artistic excellence, and amplify the transformative impact of this iconic orchestra,” said Jennifer Ritvo Hughes, incoming CEO of the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (AFIPO). “I look forward to building bridges of harmony and helping AFIPO continue to grow and thrive in a rapidly evolving philanthropic and cultural landscape.”

Hughes has considerable musical experience. She earned a master’s degree in musicology at Brandeis University and most recently worked for the Boston Baroque orchestra as its executive director.

Outgoing CEO Danielle Ames Spivak said “as I step down as CEO to spend more time with my family, I’m overwhelmed with love for the friends I have made.”

She added that the “last 12 years have been fulfilling and meaningful and I look forward to staying involved as a member, and supporter, of AFIPO.”
