A Palestinian from Jenin stole a vehicle in the Tel Aviv area on Tuesday and crashed it into a checkpoint outside the Tzrifin IDF base south of Ben Gurion Airport, moderately wounding an Israeli soldier, according to police.

The suspect, who had been in Israel illegally, then drove inside the base for several minutes before fleeing the scene. Officers pursued and later arrested him in Ramle.

The wounded soldier was evacuated to hospital for treatment.
