“History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme,” Mark Twain once said.
The current situation in Israel is awfully close to a repeat of 1948, beginning with the slaughter and humiliation of Jews and a pledge to destroy us all.
We won’t know how Israel’s security system failed us until after we win this war and have a national inquiry.
In the meantime, I offer another pertinent piece of advice from Twain.
He said: “Keep all your eggs in one basket, and then guard that basket very, very well.”
It’s the second part that we seem to have missed.
