Israel’s top rabbis in theological dispute over wartime weddings
Former Sephardic Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef issued a religious decree allowing both Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews to wed during the mourning period in light of the war, Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Rabbi Kalman Ber disagreed.

Israel’s chief rabbis to announce national fast day for hostages
The national day of fasting and prayer, requested by Israeli President Isaac Herzog, would be announced "in the coming days," said Sephardic Chief Rabbi David Yosef.

The announcement comes just one day after Israel joined the United States in voting against a U.N. resolution reaffirming the world body’s condemnation of Russia for its invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.
