U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke with Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi on Wednesday about the conflict in Gaza, according to a White House readout.

“Sullivan reaffirmed the administration’s ironclad support for Israel’s security, as well as its right to defend its people from indiscriminate rocket attacks,” per the readout. “Sullivan also noted continued regional efforts to broker a ceasefire, and emphasized the need to de-escalate tensions and prevent further loss of life.”

Earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces tweeted: “Just today, over 300 rockets have been fired at civilians all over the country.”
