Esther Sterental, an activist with the Doral, Fla., chapter of the grassroots #EndJewHatred civil-rights movement, issued the following statement in response to Doral City Council Resolution 24-5675, which rejected antisemitism and bigotry of any kind, offered support for Israel and condemned Hamas:

“Today, I had the privilege of attending the council meeting of the city of Doral. The city mayor and all council members passed a resolution against antisemitism, and in support of Israel,” she said. “Thank you, Doral, for standing strong against bigotry and hatred, thank you council members for taking the time to show your support for the Jewish community. It means a lot when elected officials act on our behalf and stand with us.”

The resolution was originally sponsored by Mayor Christi Fraga and was amended during the discussion to include all council members as co-sponsors to send a strong message of support for Israel and a strong message against antisemitism in the community. It was approved unanimously.

#EndJewHatred Florida chapter activists spoke at the hearing to advocate for the resolution’s passage.

#EndJewHatred is an international grassroots civil rights movement that unites ordinary people, activists and organizations from around the world who support the cause that defines the movement: to end Jew-hatred in our lifetime. It does so by altering public discourse to make Jew-hatred unacceptable in society, while empowering Jews with positivity and strength to discover and enjoy their heritage in whichever manner they choose, without fear of attack or persecution.
