Zamir Choral Foundation will present Jewish Strong: Raising Voices for Israel, a concert to benefit HaZamir Israel and its teen singers in this time of war and ongoing need. The concert will be held on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m., at a venue in New York City.

Uplifting music of solidarity, rededication and resolve will be performed by the Zamir Chorale, the premier Hebrew singing choir in North America, and Zamir Noded, the inspiring Jewish choir for young professionals, all conducted by maestro Matthew Lazar, the leading force of the Jewish choral movement.

“Choral music can express a range of emotions and have a healing effect across all cultures,” says Lazar, founder and director of Zamir Choral Foundation. “This concert is a vehicle to inspire hope and a sense of community among people in the U.S. and Israel.”

The program includes a featured performance of Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms in the composer’s version for keyboard, harp and percussion, as well as shorter works by American and Israeli composers.

The concert will benefit HaZamir Israel, which is a part of HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir with chapters in 27 U.S. locations and nine cities in Israel. HaZamir was created as a platform for talented teens to sing great Jewish music at the highest standard of excellence.

“HaZamir is an empowering lifeline for our Israeli singers, providing stability, resilience and friendship to them in this time of crisis, displacement and war,” says Vivian Lazar, director of HaZamir. “We want them to know that we support them and we are with them. We are Jewish strong.”

The benefit performance will take place on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m., at Merkin Hall at Kaufman Music Center, located at 129 W. 67th St. in New York City. Ticket prices range from $40-$100, and the portion of the ticket price beyond $40 is tax-deductible.

For tickets, call the Merkin Concert Hall Box Office at 212-501-3330 or see: https://www.kaufmanmusiccenter.org/mch/event/jewish-strong-raising-voices-for-israel/
