LevSoul announces the release of their new album, “Unity.” This three-song collection offers an innovative take on classic Jewish texts, weaving them into contemporary tunes that resonate with the spirit of togetherness. “ ‘Unity’ arrives at a time when we yearn for togetherness more than ever,” says Josh Gerhardt, co-founder of LevSoul with his dad, Dave.

The songs span musical genres, highlighting various aspects of unity:

Shema: A soulful folk interpretation of the essence of the call of the oneness of the universe.

Oseh Shalom: Infused with salsa flavors, this arrangement of the ancient Jewish prayer is a toe-tappin’, soul-stirring call for peace.

Ani Ma’amin: A rockin’ blues rendition, this track is a powerful expression of hope for a future where global peace and unity reign supreme.

“We want to make tasty Jewish tunes in a variety of musical genres,” says Dave, who has been composing and playing Jewish music for more than four decades and was a co-founder of Bsamim, a popular Jewish band from Texas. “With ‘Unity’ you can rock out to Ani Ma’amin, sway to the salsa rhythm of Oseh Shalom and chill to a meditative Shema.

Josh, a songwriter and musician, has been on a journey of musical exploration and growth in recent years. Reflecting on the unique experience of making music with his family, he says, “Creating music together adds a special depth to our songs.”

The seeds of LevSoul were planted in the pre-pandemic era, blossoming through father-son jam sessions. The arrival of COVID lockdowns and 24/7 quarantining together, accelerated this creative partnership, culminating in the birth of LevSoul. “One of the silver linings in that COVID cloud was the opportunity to play more music together,” says Dave.

The cover art for “Unity” is an original pen-and-watercolor drawing, created by Dave. It incorporates LevSoul’s logo with Chagall-esque Hamsa birds nestling with a heart between them. He drew inspiration from Jewish themes and the songs themselves when crafting the artwork.

LevSoul’s eclectic musical style has captivated a diverse audience, bringing joy and connection to community events and festivals. “The response to our music has been really heartwarming,” says Josh. “Unity” is available wherever you listen to music or at: https://songwhip.com/levsoul/unity.
