La presidenta del Concejo Municipal de Nueva York Julie Menin y los integrantes del bloque judío del Concejo Eric Dinowitz (presidente), Lynn Schulman (vicepresidenta) y Harvey Epstein recibieron el 23 de septiembre en la alcaldía a Shalev Biton, sobreviviente del 7 de octubre, y a su rescatista, Yunis Alkarnawi.
El encuentro se organizó junto con UJA-Federation of New York.
Biton sobrevivió a la masacre del festival Nova, y Alkarnawi, un beduino israelí, lo rescató a él y a muchas otras personas.
