IDF downs drone fired at Eilat

The drone was downed outside Israel’s borders by an Israeli Navy Saar 4.5 missile corvette, according to the IDF.

The Israel Defense Forces early Sunday morning intercepted a drone fired towards Israel from the direction of the Red Sea.

An Israeli Navy Saar 4.5 missile corvette downed the unmanned aerial vehicle “outside the country’s borders,” according to the military.

Sirens sounded in the Red Sea resort city of Eilat and surrounding areas.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of Iran-backed Shi’ite terrorists, claimed to have launched a drone at a “vital target” in the city.

On Wednesday night, two Israelis were lightly wounded in a suicide drone attack on Eilat. The Magen David Adom emergency response group said that medics on the scene treated two men, ages 68 and 28, both of whom suffered “very minor” wounds.

That attack triggered sirens across Eilat, sending some 60,000 residents, as well as tourists and Israeli evacuees from the north of the country, running for shelter.

The IDF stated that at least two explosive-laden drones had been launched at the Jewish state “from the east.”

The agreement commits Washington to respect Israeli sovereignty and limits future sanctions against listed Israelis and organizations, the NGO says.
