It requires the U.S. Department of Defense to consult with Israel on its capability to deter threats from Iran and provide a report to Congress.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps are “Hezbollah in Lebanon, they are Islamic Jihad in Gaza, they are the Houthis in Yemen, they are the militias in Iraq,” said the Israeli officials. “The IRGC are responsible for attacks on American civilians and forces throughout the Middle East.”
The IRGC was designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) by the Trump administration in 2019, becoming the first state-affiliated organization to be included on the list.
“Our aim is a transatlantic coalition of national conservatives, together with anti-Marxist liberals committed to preserving and defending the independent nation-state,” said conference chair Christopher DeMuth.
“[Paul] O’Brien’s patronizing attempt to speak on behalf of the American Jewish community is deeply alarming and offensive,” they wrote in a statement.
They aim for a policy that “completely blocks Iran’s path to a nuclear-weapons capability, constrains Iran’s ballistic-missile program and confronts Iran’s support for terrorism.”
Included are candidates committed to supporting the agendas of U.S. President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, and are supportive of a strong U.S.-Israeli relationship.
“Both [Yitzhak] Rabin and [Menachem] Begin proved time and time again that when it came to issues of security they took action,” said Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
“The Abraham Accords, without question, are ushering in new era. We’ve already a shift in the vision for Middle East nations, a shift in thinking as to what are the possibilities for peace, a shift in actions seen at the people-to-people level, seen in travel, in energy projects, everywhere,” said Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.).
“Great honor for Karen Pence and I to travel to Hebron today to visit the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs at the Cave of Machpelah that Abraham bought to bury Sarah nearly 4,000 years ago,” Pence tweeted, adding that Abraham is revered by three “great world religions.”
“It should not have to be said that anti-Semitism has no place in America. Sadly, we must say it now—and say it loudly and clearly—because there are those who need to hear it,” said House majority leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.).
They write: “As the State Department has often noted in reference to a nuclear agreement with Iran, ‘nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.’ We hope that no agreement is finalized without additionally addressing these concerns.”
