Madison Cawthorn, 25, is being praised by Republicans, including U.S. President Donald Trump, as a rising star in the party. But he has been accused by his Democratic opponent of promoting bigotry and hatred, as well as by women for aggressive behavior.
It features a Holocaust denier decrying that “Zionist supremacists have schemed to promote immigration and miscegenation” and “implies that Jews are at the heart of a project to destroy Europe as we know it.”
A spokesperson from Jesse Mermell’s campaign told JNS that her response to the BDS question “was an error due to misunderstanding a very opaquely worded question. It has since been corrected.”
“They fill our sidewalks with hate speech to harass our worshippers, and then claim it’s just a good public location,” said Rabbi Nadav Caine in a statement following the federal ruling.
Biden campaign senior advisor Symone Sanders told JNS: “We continue to reject the views that Linda Sarsour has expressed.”
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the action reinforces “our commitment to hold [Syrian President Bashar] Assad’s generals and militia commanders accountable for their violations and abuses.”
