Vice President Mike Pence confirms participation in major pro-Israel conference
Mike Pence will be the first U.S. vice president to attend the annual Israeli-American Council conference, which begins Nov. 29 in Florida.
Congratulating Benitez on Wednesday on his new role, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence “strongly encouraged” him to “follow through with Paraguay’s previous commitment to move the embassy as a sign of the historic relationship the country has maintained with both Israel and the United States,” according to a White House statement.

In line with the ongoing Palestinian boycott of the Trump administration, Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas snubbed U.S. Vice President Mike Pence during the American leader’s visit to Israel this week and instead flew to Europe, where he implored the European Union to recognize a Palestinian state.
