The international grassroots civil-rights movement #EndJewHatred condemns antisemitic flyers found on and around the University of California, Santa Barbara campus. The antisemitic materials were placed by the white supremacist group Goyim Defense League (GDL) a day after antisemitic messages were discovered in a classroom on campus where the rallying cry of Hamas was written out.

#EndJewHatred is calling on the UC Santa Barbara administration and the entire university community to rally in solidarity behind the Jewish people targeted with this vile hatred and take action to address it.

“As a graduate of UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), I am appalled at this disgusting show of Jew-hatred. Unfortunately, I am not shocked. It is time for UCSB to wake up and #EndJewHatred on their campus,” said Yehuda Jian, campus coordinator for #EndJewHatred.

#EndJewHatred is also calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into these incidents. In addition to the university issuing a statement condemning this act of Jew-Hatred and pledging support for Jewish students, faculty, and staff, the movement wants to see UC Santa Barbara institute DEI initiatives that take into account the full recognition and inclusion of Jewish identity, including Zionist identity.

“I am in complete shock and our community is in distress. We are pushing the administration to make a statement and follow it up with tangible action in response to this unprovoked and unconscionable act of hatred. This coordinated act of antisemitism and Jew-hatred will not disrupt the activism and pride of the Jewish students at UCSB,” said Alexa Grines, #EndJewHatred campus fellow at UC Santa Barbara.
