Up to 22,000 workers in Israel’s defense industry could lose their jobs to the tune of a whopping $1.3 billion in annual losses as part of a clause linked to a military funding deal signed in 2016.
Beitar Jerusalem thanked the president for recognizing Jerusalem and moving the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the capital, saying it would now be called “Beitar Trump Jerusalem.”
“Today, we follow through on this recognition and open our embassy in the historic and sacred land of Jerusalem,” U.S. President Donald Trump said in a video greeting.
Some are for and against individual policies made by the U.S. president, but most seem satisfied that Jerusalem is being recognized as Israel’s capital.
“It would be useful if moving the embassy becomes the first stage of Israel-U.S.-Arab policy of assertive truth-telling. This is one of the main arguments President Trump has made—the simple truth that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.”
“We support [Israel] in whatever efforts they have in order to defend themselves,” calling Iran’s aggression “another good reminder that the president made the right decision to get out of the Iran deal,” stated White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
“Our meetings are always important, and this one is especially so. Given what is happening now in Syria, it is important to ensure the continued security cooperation between the Russian army and the Israel Defense Forces,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Mainstream Jewish organizations voiced both strong support and tepid approval for the decision.
“This was a horrible one-sided deal that should have never, ever been made,” announced U.S. President Donald Trump. “It didn’t bring calm, it didn’t bring peace, and it never will.”
Trump plans to reinstate all sanctions it had waived as part of the nuclear deal, as well impose additional economic penalties on the Islamic Republic, according to “The New York Times.”
“I will be announcing my decision on the Iran Deal tomorrow from the White House at 2 p.m.,” the president tweeted.
Documents obtained by newspapers in the United Kingdom confirm that Trump administration officials asked unnamed Israeli intelligence firm to probe private and public lives of Obama administration officials involved in negotiating 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
