Perhaps the two most moving items in the collection are a pair of notes found in Senesh’s dress following her execution in 1944: the last poem she wrote and a personal letter to her mother.

Some of the findings: 2,000 fewer books came out in 2020 (6,487 books) compared to 2019 (8,225 books), and poetry outnumbered prose for the first time.
The collection comes online exactly 97 years after the author’s death on June 3, 1924.

The memorandum of understanding, valid for three years, lays out multiple areas of collaboration, such as digitization, professional knowledge-sharing and cultural exchange.
Part of Gesher L’Europa, the initiative strives to connect with people, institutions and communities across Europe and beyond through storytelling, knowledge-sharing and community engagement.
The materials include poems; legal trials; oral traditions and histories; and information about economic life, social organization, values, laws, religious practices, poetic creativity and the environment.
