The attacker yelled “free Palestine” at the victim, Israel Bachar, the Israeli consul general to the Pacific Southwest, told JNS.
The 16-year-old’s attorney argued in court that the teenager’s role was limited to receiving messages and that he did not actively participate in the plot.
“We want Skokie to act firmly and rapidly to try and prevent more incidents like this from happening,” Susan Haggard, president of the Chicago Jewish Alliance, told JNS.
“One of the lines of inquiry is whether this attack was deliberately targeting the Jewish community in London,” the department said.
“One male was seen running along Golders Green Road armed with a knife and attempting to stab Jewish members of the public,” Shomrim wrote on X.
“We’ve faced hate before, and every time we’ve responded the same way,” Jake Cohen, executive director of Congregation Beth Israel, said. “By staying together and by refusing to let fear define us.”
“Threats against synagogues and Jewish Americans are threats to the religious freedom promised to every single one of us,” according to the Justice Department.
The probe is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing London.
Jewish community members reportedly marched only a few hundred yards before being subjected to abuse.
“Each incident documented in the audit meant pain, suffering and anguish for a human being, a fellow Canadian,” the Jewish nonprofit said.
The training materials instruct immigration officers to carefully examine applicants who encourage antisemitism “through rhetorical or physical actions,” focusing particularly on aliens who engaged in anti-Israel campus activity.
A Jewish man was beaten on the metro as assailants hurled antisemitic abuse and took jewelry with “tremendous emotional value.”
