Iranian oil minister Bijan Zanganeh said on Monday that the United States is fighting against Iran by other means, such as implementing sanctions on oil exports, he was quoted as saying by Iranian news agency SHANA.
“Today, Iran is still fighting a war. America has waged a war against Iran with no blood,” said Zanganeh, reported Reuters.
Zanganeh said on Sunday that OPEC members should “denounce the use of oil as a political tool for imposition of sanctions and pressures on oil-producing nations.”
The United States is expected to sanction more than two-dozen people and entities involved in Iran’s nuclear, missile and conventional weapons programs, a senior U.S. official was quoted as saying by Reuters on Sunday.
“Because of Iran’s provocative nuclear escalation, it could have sufficient fissile material for a nuclear weapon by the end of this year,” said the official.
In addition, the official noted that weapons’ cooperation with North Korea has continued.
According to the report, the official added that “Iran and North Korea have resumed cooperation on a long-range missile project, including the transfer of critical parts.”
