Clashes between the Israel Defense Forces and Gaza rioters continued on Tuesday, with Gazans attacking and damaging Israel’s border with explosive devices.

Approximately 100 Gazan attackers clashed with troops on the border, with the Israel Defense Forces utilizing tear gas and live fire. Along a different part of the fence, a group of Palestinians invaded through the border, approaching an IDF post.

Israeli soldiers responded by firing warning shots, and the infiltrators ran back through the fence.

Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has been calling for Israel to deal a “serious blow” to Hamas with the goal of gaining four or five years of calm, much as was achieved following the 2014 Gaza war, “Operation Protective Edge.”

Israel’s security cabinet met on Sunday to consider a military campaign against terror organizations in Gaza, but decided to wait until the end of the week, due to the arrival of Egyptian negotiators who are attempting to seal a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

However, due to a direct hit on a Beersheva home by a rocket out of Gaza and the narrow escape of the family living inside, Israel cancelled a meeting scheduled for Wednesday aimed at discussing ceasefire possibilities.
