FIDE cancels chess contest in Riyadh after legal action
Israelis were denied visas to participate in a Saudi Arabia tournament last year and sought assurances that it would not be repeated this year.
The plaintiff discovered the material after conducting a Google search in Spanish using the terms “Holocaust” and “truth.” The results included labeling Jews as “degenerate” and the “embodiment of evil.”

Israelis barred from Saudi chess tournament demand action from world chess body
Israeli chess grandmaster Ilya Smirin and former spokesperson for the Israeli Chess Federation Lior Aizenberg have written to FIDE requesting financial compensation and seeking assurances that it will not allow host countries to perpetrate such discrimination against Israelis.

PayPal drops British entity War on Want amid complaint
The complaint accuses the anti-poverty and social-justice organization of having political campaigns with little or no relevance to global poverty, in addition to making falsehoods regarding Israel.
“U-M has a moral and legal responsibility to address discrimination on campus, and we hope it will take swift action to fulfill that obligation,” said board chairman of the Lawfare Project, a legal think tank.
“As Israelis in practice are not allowed to enter the transit areas of Kuwait’s airport, the plaintiff cannot demand transportation by the Kuwaiti airline from Frankfurt to Bangkok with a stopover in Kuwait,” said the Frankfurt-based High Court of Hesse.
“Jewish and Israeli students, student groups and faculty are regularly threatened, marginalized and harassed. In far too many instances, school administrators turn a blind eye to this hostile environment or contribute to it by failing to enforce school policies,” says Lawfare Project executive director Brooke Goldstein.

Organizations file complaint against British charity, alleging ties to terrorists
“We allege in this complaint that War on Want misuses charitable funds to serve clearly political goals that are not connected to the public good,” said Jonathan Turner, chief executive of UK Lawyers for Israel.
The actions by the Lawfare Project came following controversial comments by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, saying he does not believe that Holocaust-denial content should be removed.
The Lawfare Project has already filed complaints against the bill, saying it would violate foreign-trade competences that belong exclusively to the European Union. It plans to continue to pursue legal action.
