Trump Administration

U.S. President Donald Trump has been nominated for Israel’s most prestigious award, the Israel Prize, usually given only to Israelis.
The prize went to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
“The people of Israel regard you as the greatest friend and ally of the Jewish nation in modern history,” wrote Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum sent the invitation to the U.S. president amid reports that he will address the Knesset on Sunday.
The U.S. president told Fox News that “they’re loving Israel again” after he announced the first phase of the agreement that will see the remaining hostages held by Hamas in Gaza returned.
Marking the second anniversary of the Oct. 7 massacre, the secretary said, “We renew our resolve to prevent such evil from ever taking place again.”
Benjamin Landa, who operates nursing homes and has donated widely to Jewish causes, has been actively pursuing the role.
As international pressure builds on Hamas to accept the Trump plan for Gaza, former Israeli defense officials are weighing possible scenarios for what comes next.
The president expressed optimism that his ceasefire plan could become a reality, saying he is “working hard to achieve it.”
“Departing from decades of Washington appeasement policy and status quo, President Trump has reshaped the trajectory of the Middle East,” said Israel Allies Foundation U.S. director Jordanna McMillan.
The U.S. president said that “this is not about Gaza alone. This is about long sought peace in the Middle East.”
“We will continue to revoke the visas of those who put the safety of our citizens at risk,” a U.S. State Department spokesman told JNS.
