“What’s done is done,” said the mayor of South Bend, Ind., and a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president in 2020.
In February, the United Kingdom officially designated Hezbollah as a terrorist group, joining 12 other countries that have done the same.
The measure acknowledges that Hezbollah member Ibrahim Hussein Berro was identified as the AMIA bomber.
The trip, to be led by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), allows new members to hear from Israeli and Palestinian officials, in addition to exploring and learning about the Jewish state.
The move took place three months after the U.S. House of Representatives was criticized for watering down and passing a resolution condemning anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.
“By invoking assistance to Israel, Mayor Buttigieg used one of the most long-standing bipartisan issues as a political instrument in his fight for the 2020 Democratic nomination,” said AJCongress president Jack Rosen.
It comes ahead of the Trump administration releasing the first part of its peace proposal between the Israelis and the Palestinians at an economic summit later this month in Bahrain.
Two individuals were also penalized for allegedly facilitating weapons shipments to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
“It freaked out a lot of people in my community,” said candidate for Seattle City Council Ari Hoffman. “They don’t feel safe anymore.”
“We adopted the decision to relocate the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. It was a long overdue commitment to support our allies,” tweeted Pavel Filip.
The U.S. Marine Corps expressed interest in acquiring two of the short-range battery systems with their almost 90 percent success rate.
