Hamas has yet to respond to Israel’s proposed deal, according to the Israeli prime minister’s office.
Withdrawal would “lead to the creation of an Iranian outpost,” the foreign minister said.
“Hamas and terrorist organizations are firing rockets from your area towards the State of Israel. The IDF will act forcefully and immediately against them.”
The move is in response to Oslo recognizing a Palestinian state and other anti-Israel actions.
Nine were killed in the attacks, according to Palestinian sources.
Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, declined to elaborate on the degree to which the deal has neared the finish line.
The killing of Hamas senior leader Ismail Haniyeh in a July 31 bombing assassination attributed to Israel left a significant vacuum in leadership.
The death of Bilha Yinon, 76, was established after a committee of experts reviewed new DNA evidence.
“Movement along the humanitarian route has been temporarily halted as the area now constitutes an active combat zone,” the IDF said.
“It is too little, too late—ignoring thousands of agency employees involved to various degrees in Hamas’s terror activities,” wrote Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan.
