Inaugural Israeli Global Impact Awards given for humanitarianism

The first-ever “Global Impact Awards” were bestowed on Thursday at a gala event in Tel Aviv to those who have made a positive impact on society.

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin was in attendance.

“The winners here tonight—the organizations, the men and the women who will come up onto the stage—represent the best of our academic research, the best of Israeli innovation that has produced companies, innovations and technology of a quality and a quantity that is unparalleled in the world,” he said. “They also represent civil society, where the depth of specialization and the level of passion have made it groundbreaking, and the cooperation between Israel and Jewish communities around the world which brings a breath of fresh air, and acts as our force multiplier to do good in the world.”

The award recipients included Georgette Bennett, founder of the Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees (MFA), and Jean-Claude Nkulikiyimfura, executive director of Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV).

The MFA is an American group seeking to create interfaith dialogue in response to the Syrian refugee crisis, while ASYV is a living and learning community in Rwanda similar to the Israeli youth village Yemin Orde.

The vandalism is “absolutely unacceptable,” New York City Council member Phil Wong stated. “There is no place for this kind of hatred in our community.”
“American forces are actively assisting efforts to restore transit for commercial shipping” as part of the newly announced Project Freedom, U.S. Central Command wrote.
“Once again, the crime reductions across the five boroughs are a direct result of our precision policing strategy: focusing on illegal guns, putting officers where they’re needed most and taking down violent gangs,” stated Jessica Tisch, NYPD commissioner, about overall crime in the city.
David Livingston was one of five current and former elected officials from the region to receive an award from the Consulate General of Israel in Los Angeles at a Yom Ha’atzmaut event.
Rabbi Sruli Fried, director of Chai Lifeline New Jersey, stated that the Pennsylvania senator showed “genuine interest in our work.”
