JDC

Active today in 70 countries, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) work to alleviate hunger and hardship, rescue Jews in danger, create lasting connections to Jewish life, and help Israel overcome the social challenges of its most vulnerable citizens, both Jewish and non-Jewish. Our reach extends beyond the global Jewish community by providing high-impact disaster relief and long-term development assistance worldwide.
“At this moment of great hardship for Israelis and Jewish communities around the world, Passover’s message of deliverance carries special meaning,” said JDC CEO Ariel Zwang.
Highlights include a virtual event with cookbook author Leah Koenig, who will explore the culinary heritage of Rome’s Jewish community, the oldest outside of the Middle East.
“We are fully focused on addressing their immediate and urgent needs,” said Brig. Gen. (Res.) Hadas Minka Brand, executive director of JDC Israel.
Malawi is the second country, after Ghana, to benefit from the ImpactWell initiative, which deploys Israeli medical technology and training in developing countries.
“This year, hunger is accompanied by ongoing war and strife, loss and uncertainty, and the plague of increasing antisemitism,” says CEO Ariel Zwang.
It is partnering with local and national governments, NGOs and the business sector to address the new reality facing Israelis.
ImpactWell initiative deploys sustainable, Israeli-pioneered mobile and telemedicine solutions, starting with successful pilot program underway in Ghana.
“We’re working to ensure that Jewish communities worldwide, no matter what challenges they face, can experience the spirit of the Passover story and the triumph of the Jewish people over adversity,” said JDC CEO Ariel Zwang.
JDC deploys new resilience, economic and wellness initiatives to aid evacuees, reservists, frontline residents, terror-attack survivors and jobless.
