The U.S. president said that “peaceful” protests are protected free speech, but “violent” ones aren’t.
The bill, which codifies the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of Jew-hatred for Title VI purposes, passed 320-91 and is now Senate-bound.
“Hitler, Hitler go back home, Palestine is ours alone,” more than 100 demonstrators chanted at George Washington University on Friday.
“This will have no impact on our support for Israel’s ability to defend itself against Hamas, Iran, Hezbollah or other threats,” the U.S. secretary of state wrote to House Speaker Mike Johnson.

“This isn’t Fallujah, this is Morningside Heights,” said ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, calling for a ban on masks at Columbia University.
The moves are the latest actions against Israelis that the Biden administration accused of “undermining peace, security and stability in the West Bank.”
“The House must pass the package this week, and the Senate should quickly follow,” said U.S. President Joe Biden.
“They can expel me and I’ll stay,” said Maryam Iqbal, a suspended Barnard student. “They can put us in jail. We’ll come back again.”
“Let it be clear to all those who enable or support Iran’s attacks: The United States is committed to Israel’s security,” said U.S. President Joe Biden.
“Columbia is in for a reckoning of accountability,” said Rep. Elise Stefanik.
