“The people of Israel regard you as the greatest friend and ally of the Jewish nation in modern history,” wrote Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana.
“We have the hostages for the most part,” the U.S. president said. “The situation with the bodies, they say 28, some are going to be a little bit hard to find.”
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum sent the invitation to the U.S. president amid reports that he will address the Knesset on Sunday.
“This is a moment of profound relief that will be felt all around the world, but particularly for the hostages, their families, and for the civilian population of Gaza,” said U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The U.S. president told Fox News that “they’re loving Israel again” after he announced the first phase of the agreement that will see the remaining hostages held by Hamas in Gaza returned.
“President Trump’s determination to bring peace made possible what many said was impossible.”
The president expressed optimism that his ceasefire plan could become a reality, saying he is “working hard to achieve it.”
The statement reaffirmed the countries’ joint commitment to end the Gaza war, saying it offers a real opportunity for a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire.
“Departing from decades of Washington appeasement policy and status quo, President Trump has reshaped the trajectory of the Middle East,” said Israel Allies Foundation U.S. director Jordanna McMillan.
The U.S. president said the plan has been shared with Hamas, and that once confirmed by the terrorist group, the ceasefire and hostages and prisoner exchange will begin immediately.
