JFNA president and CEO Eric Fingerhut said he is optimistic following the “March for Israel” rally in Washington that drew nearly 300,000 people.
Another 250,000 watched via lifestream, according to organizers.
The next morning, the delegation visited the places where they have been helping people live and escape, JNFA head Eric Fingerhut told JNS.
“The demographics are changing,” said Irving Lebovics, co-chairman of the Agudah-affiliated Am Echad. “I’m not even sure who the federation represents today.”
On the ground, Internet access and cash are luxuries, and “life happens between sirens,” Inna Vdovichenko, JDC’s representative in Odessa, told JNS.
The investment firm accused of anti-Israel bias made the decision after extended talks with a pro-Israel working group.
“As has always been the case, Jews in the United States committed themselves to our civic process, voting and working for candidates of both major parties,” said Eric Fingerhut.
In his new role, he will build on the organization’s success in fostering Jewish life on 550 campuses across 18 countries.
“We believe he can bring the same energy and imagination to Federation. He’s the right leader at the right time,” said chair of the JFNA Board of Trustees Mark Wilf.
