Egypt: Palestinian committee picked for Gaza reconstruction

A 15-member panel, reviewed by Israel and backed by Hamas, is to manage the coastal enclave’s daily life and rebuilding efforts under U.S. oversight.

A 15-member Palestinian committee has been chosen to oversee the rebuilding and administration of Gaza after the war, the Associated Press on Tuesday cited Egypt’s foreign minister as saying.

“We need to deploy them to take care of the daily life of the people in Gaza, and the Board of Peace should support and supervise the flow of finance and money, which will come for the reconstruction of Gaza,” Badr Abdelatty told the news agency ahead of Monday’s regional summit held at Sharm el-Sheikh and attended by world leaders, referring to the board that will govern Gaza and be chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump.

He said Israel had already reviewed the list of names but did not make them public. Hamas and other Palestinian terrorist factions have approved the committee, Abdelatty added.

The minister also claimed Hamas welcomed the Trump plan for Gaza, saying that the terrorist organization will “have no role in the transitional period. They are committed to that. That is why they are working on an administrative Palestinian committee to be deployed in order to take care of the daily life of the people of Gaza.”

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced Monday that Egypt will host a conference on Gaza’s reconstruction and recovery, organized in coordination with the United States and Germany.

“Such hate has no place in our schools or our state, especially as we begin Jewish American Heritage Month,” said Maryland Gov. Wes Moore.
“While our ability to provide additional information at this time is limited, we will continue to keep the community informed,” the private D.C. university stated.
“This is not a prank. It was an act of intimidation meant to spread fear,” Vince Gasparro, a Liberal parliamentarian, told JNS.
“We welcomed this traitor into our nation with open arms,” the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan said. “And he repaid us by building a bomb and helping our great enemy.”
The “failed approach” to lasting peace between the countries has “allowed terrorist groups to entrench and enrich themselves, undermine the authority of the Lebanese state and endanger Israel’s northern border,” said State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott.
“One has to wonder how that humble pie tastes for the Democrats today,” Sam Markstein of the Republican Jewish Coalition told JNS.
