The incident occurred during an “offensive activity” by the reconnaissance unit of the IDF’s Paratroopers Brigade, according to the military.

The Israel Defense Forces on Saturday evening eliminated a Palestinian terrorist who attempted to harm troops in Samaria, the military stated.

“During an offensive activity of the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Unit in the Menashe Brigade [deployment area], a terrorist was identified who attempted to harm the force during the activity in the area,” it said.

The force fired on and eliminated the individual, the statement continued, noting that there were no IDF casualties during the incident.

The Menashe Brigade operates in northern Samaria, in particular in the areas of Jenin and Tulkarm, two primary terror hubs.

During an overnight raid in the Nablus (Shechem) area of northern Samaria on Wednesday, undercover soldiers of the IDF’s elite Duvdevan unit arrested a terrorist who had been planning an attack, according to the military.

The previous day, during a daring daylight raid in Ramallah in southern Samaria, Israeli forces captured a Palestinian terrorist wanted in connection with shooting attacks targeting civilians and soldiers.

On Oct. 21, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir warned senior officers that terrorist elements could try to disturb the “stabilization processes” in the Middle East, particularly in Israel’s Judea and Samaria region.

The region is “in a period of significant change, which could bring new developments, and we must be prepared for all scenarios,” Zamir said during a visit to Central Command headquarters in Jerusalem.

Palestinian terrorists targeted Israeli Jews in Judea and Samaria at least 6,343 times last year, according to figures published by the Rescuers Without Borders (Hatzalah Judea and Samaria) NGO on Feb. 17.

Twenty-seven Israelis were murdered in Judea and Samaria in 2024, and more than 300 others were wounded, the group said in its annual report.
