Tens of kilograms of suspected narcotics wash up on Israeli beaches

The suspicious packages were were transferred to forensic laboratories after the police bomb disposal unit determined they did not contain explosives.

Dozens of packages containing tens of kilograms of what is believed to be narcotics washed up on Israeli shores from Tel Aviv to Nahariya on Saturday, according to the Israel Police.

Bomb disposal units alerted to the locations where the suspicious packages were found determined that they did not contain explosives, following which they were transferred to police forensic labs for further analysis.

The suspected narcotics washed up on beaches in, among other places, Haifa, Zichron Ya’akov and Hadera.

Israeli media reported that a dinghy containing another 40 packages of the substance was found abandoned off the Tel Aviv coast.

Israeli security forces regularly thwart attempts to smuggle drugs and weapons into the country.

Last month, the IDF apprehended a suspect near the Hasbani River close to the border with Lebanon and seized 30 kilograms of narcotics, with an estimated street value of around $225,400, as well as two handguns.

Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu said: “After years in which sites were neglected or looted, Israel is making historical corrections.”
Using this phrase against Israel is no less absurd than labeling sport-hooliganism and violence at mass demonstrations in the West as officially sponsored, government-sanctioned violence.
“Nearly eight years after the shooting, our gratitude and admiration for the heroic bravery and selfless dedication of the first responders that day endures,” said U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti.
Yitzhak Ben-Hebron escaped Arab riots as a child and later returned to rebuild the Jewish community in the city.
Army Maj. Gen. Jasper Jeffers III said that future conflicts will require allied special operations forces to integrate quickly and operate with compatible systems.
“The strength and resilience you and your families demonstrate throughout the recovery and rehabilitation process inspire the entire nation of Israel,” the IDF chief said.
