Amid a spike in anti-Semitism across the country, the president has yet to fill the positions of special envoy on anti-Semitism and the White House Jewish liaison.
The visit will take place shortly before Rivlin is due to end his seven-year term in July.
Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said a “strong U.S.-Israel relationship benefits both countries, is a core strategic asset for Israel, and requires a bipartisan approach, working with both Democrats and Republicans.”
“Anti-Semitism has no place in Texas, and we have a duty to combat it whenever and however it arises,” said Gov. Greg Abbott.
The nomination will now go to the Senate for confirmation.
