Were the bill to become law, the president would be required to fill the position within 90 days.
Hoenlein tells JNS that following the selection of a new executive—a process that could take one to two years—he will continue to focus on external relations as well as plans to structure the Conference for the years ahead.
“The United Arab Emirates can have an expanding role with the State of Israel. They are a country that is trying to counter the forces of extremism,” said Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations.
Leaders of several major American Jewish organizations told JNS they support the Israeli government’s decision to prevent the entry of foreign citizens who promote boycotts of Israel.
Jewish leaders are applauding the Trump administration’s newly released global strategy doctrine, which rejects the notion that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the main cause of Mideast turmoil.
