U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and G7 foreign ministers “agreed Iran can never develop or acquire a nuclear weapon,” Tammy Bruce, U.S. State Department spokesperson, stated on Wednesday.
Rubio met with G7 leaders during the NATO Summit on Wednesday and discussed U.S. President Donald Trump’s “decisive action” against key nuclear facilities in Iran and “reviewed next steps to promote durable peace between Iran and Israel.”
Also at the summit on Wednesday, Trump said the June 23 Israel-Iran ceasefire was holding up “very good.”
According to Bruce, the G7 leaders also discussed “the importance of maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait; deepening cooperation on China’s destabilizing actions in the South China Sea; and the role of G7 countries in maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific region.”
